Product Review: Hamilton Beach Breakfast Burrito Maker

Product Review: Hamilton Beach Breakfast Burrito Maker

As of late, my husband has been referring to me as the 'Kitchen Gadget Guru'. I never really thought about it before, but I guess I have a 'few' kitchen gadgetsInstant Pot, Air Fryer, rice cooker, Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker as well as a few others.

When I purchased my breakfast sandwich maker from Amazon it was bundled with a Breakfast Burrito Maker. We really liked that idea as we spend a lot of time in south Texas where breakfast tacos are very popular, and we've fallen in love with the different flavors that can be incorporated. What better way to enjoy a south Texas type breakfast as we travel the United States pulling our 2011 Heartland Landmark Key Largo, than to be able to make them ourselves?

This little gadget is pretty handy for making other things besides burritos/tacos. You can also use it to create quesadillas, omelets and crepes! Click this LINK for a very informative YouTube video that provides great tips on the use of this Breakfast Burrito Maker.

One of the best aspects, in my opinion, of this particular gadget (as well as the breakfast sandwichmaker) is the ease of clean up! The Teflon coating makes it so that all you have to do is wipe off the surface if a warm, soapy dish cloth and you're done.

Let's make a breakfast burrito!

First, you'll want to prep your egg – scramble it and add just a touch of milk, salt and pepper if you like.

Next, dice any veggies you might want to add (green pepper, onion, tomato, mushrooms, etc.) as well as any meat (diced ham, crumbled sausage, bacon, chicken, etc.), but it will need to be pre-cooked (I keep some pre-cooked crumbled sausage in the freezer for this reason).

Plug the burrito maker in and let it heat up. When the green light comes on (green means GO!) you're ready to load it up! Open the top and place your tortilla on the bottom plate inside the ring.

Close the middle plate and place your veggies in the inner oval. For us, it was diced green pepper and red onion today.

You'll also want to add any meat you might be using. I've used some diced ham and ½ a slice of pre-cooked bacon.

Now it's time to add your beaten egg and if you'd like some shredded cheese. (We like to add our shredded cheese to the cooked product.)

Close the lid and then use the 'arrowed' buttons to adjust the time to 4 minutes, it will start on its own.

The burrito maker will beep several times when the cooking time is up. When you hear the beep, you can unplug the unit and then open the lid.

With the lid open, slide the middle plate to the left using the handle. The egg and its contents will fall onto the burrito below!

Place the burrito on a plate and top with your choice of toppings – shredded cheese, salsa, guacamole, etc. Enjoy!
